Our Year 2 Class Teacher is Miss Crowther.

We learn through the Key Stage One Curriculum. Please have a look at the curriculum newsletter (below) to see what we are learning at the moment.  For more information, please take a look at the curriculum section of the website.

Your child’s learning can be supported by reading every day, learning spellings, learning key number facts (times tables and other number facts) and completing the weekly homework.  With reading, spellings and times tables, little and often is the key.

Children in Year 2 are assessed by their teacher as they come to the end of Key Stage 1.  These teacher assessments are based upon the work the children have completed in class and informed by tests in Reading, GAPS (Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling) and Maths.

Class Routines

Children should read their book every night.

Reading books are changed in according with their phonics learning or if they are no longer on the phonics scheme whenever they finish their book. Please bring your child’s book bag everyday so that an adult can listen to them read in school.

Homework is set on a Friday and should be in by the following Thursday. It will be based on learning completed in class that week.

Children need  to come in a PE kit every Wednesday with their school jumper over the top including appropriate footwear.
